The latter were recently added to the scope following requests from stakeholders, and accounted for \u20ac142 million in sales in 2023. Carrefour has now increased its plant-based sales target to $650 million by 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The supermarket chain has also reported that 306 suppliers were part of its Food Transition Pact last year, up from 204 in 2022. The pact helps suppliers to become more sustainable through measures such as boosting biodiversity, offering healthier choices, and removing unnecessary packaging. In September, the chain helped to launch a new <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/company-news\/carrefour-major-food-companies-plant-based-coalition\/\">plant-based coalition<\/a> to democratize and develop plant-based alternatives, with members including Danone, SAVENCIA, ANDROS, Bel Bonduelle, Unilever, and NUTRITION &amp; SANTE. The coalition is aiming for \u20ac3 billion in sales by 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Carrefour began offering plant-based meat by The Vegetarian Butcher at <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/food-and-beverage\/carrefour-france-now-offering-plant-based-meat-in-traditional-butcher-counters\/\">traditional butcher counters<\/a> in France, a trend that was continued at <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/retail-e-commerce\/the-vegetarian-butcher-butcher-counters-carrefour-spain\/\">Spanish Carrefour stores<\/a> the following year. The retailer also held a <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/fairs-and-events\/winners-carrefour-plant-based-contest\/\">Plant Based Contest<\/a> in 2022, recognising innovative startups such as La Vie, Unlimeat, and V\u00e4cka.
