Millennials and Gen Z-ers, especially those who were already familiar with alt-meat, were the most likely to purchase it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57729\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57729\" style=\"width: 655px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-57729 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/vegconomistcom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/southafrica.png\" alt=\"Credence Institute\" width=\"665\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/southafrica.png 665w, https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/southafrica-300x185.png 300w, https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/southafrica-150x92.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57729\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Credence Institute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When asked about market share, most consumers estimated their future meat consumption would be about equally split between conventional, plant-based, and cell-cultured meat. Health, local food security, and environmental concerns were the main motivators for choosing alt-meat products.<\/p>\n<p>Plant-based eating is rising fast in South Africa. Last year, Uber Eats reported a <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/market-and-trends\/uber-eats-south-africa-reports-sharp-uptake-of-vegan-orders\/\">sharp rise in vegan orders<\/a> in the country, which <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.vegconom.de\/usa\/market-and-trends\/veganism-at-an-all-time-high-in-south-africa\/\">ranks higher for veganism<\/a> than any other African nation.
